The Egyptians immortalized the scarab beetle as sacred, believing that the scarab beetle represented their sun god. Ra. Ra,? the Egyptian god who rolled the sun across the sky and buried it each night. The scarab beetle became so sacred that they were put on unique stones to wear as jewellery. After the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922 lots of jewellery was produced, depicting scarabs and egyptian jewellery, here is a wonderful example.
